At the start of the season, when Chelsea finally landed Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama, the Blues decided to loan the midfielder out to Nottingham Forest.

The player even had pre-season with Mauricio Pochettino’s side, but wasn’t expected to get many chances in his team, and ended up sent to the City Ground for a season-long spell.

It turns out that he hasn’t been playing a lot at Nottingham Forest, and outlet Premier League Brasil features an interesting story on that situation.

Their report claims that Andrey is currently bothered by his situation, even though he’s keeping his head in the right place to deal with the scenario.

It’s said that despite this is being ‘complicated and evidently uncomfortable situation’, he hasn’t been complaining.

According to PL Brasil, Nottingham Forest do see some quality in the Brazilian, but don’t use him because they plan to give more time to players who are at the club under longer contracts, which is not his case.

Andrey reportedly left a good impression in his few minutes against Liverpool, and now waits for a new chance.

This week, reports from the English media claimed AS Roma are interested in offering Chelsea Tammy Abraham in a deal for the permanent transfer of Romelu Lukaku.

With the Giallorossi still planning how to keep the Belgian forward, this was mentioned as a solution they could have to convince the Blues.

As the Italian media now brings a response to this rumour, Calcio Mercato comes up to say this story indeed makes sense.

The outlet writes ‘something could be moving in this direction’ because while Roma want to keep Lukaku, they believe Abraham is an ‘asset that can be sacrificed’.

What remains to be seen is whether Chelsea would like to have the English striker back at Stamford Bridge, although the story does say the Blues re after a centre-forward.

Roma’s valuation of Abraham is said to be of €52m. Since Lukaku has been reported to be worth less, maybe the London club would need to put some money on the table to make that operation possible.

Abraham is recovering from a knee injury and is expected to return in January. Since his departure from Chelsea, he has 36 goals and 12 assists in 107 appearances for the Italian club.

Chelsea are among the clubs in the picture to sign Boca Juniors’ rising star Valentín Barco.

That’s according to Tutto Juve, who mention the Blues when explaining Juventus interest in the 19-year-old.

This year, Barco has been used as a left wing-back, left-back and also as a left winger, and has managed a goal and three assists from 27 games. His displays and potential have seen him draw the attention of Chelsea and other clubs.

The Premier League side have set their sights on the teenager and it’s even claimed they have ‘stepped up efforts’ to sign him.

Mauricio Pochettino has Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella and Ian Maatsen as the three left-backs in his squad.

Despite having three options, the report claims Chelsea consider one or more of their left-backs are facing an uncertain future, which is why they are ‘looking for a solid replacement’ for the same position.

Tutto Juve explain the west London club are looking at signing Barco ‘next year’, without specifying whether that’s January or after this season.

It won’t be easy for Chelsea to land the Argentina U20 international as the outlet states they will face ‘stiff competition’ from both the Turin club and Manchester City.

Barco has a deal lasting until December 2024 and his immediate focus will be on the Copa Libertadores final against Fluminense this weekend.

On October 10th, Sky Deutschland stated Trevoh Chalobah is likely to leave Chelsea in January and that he’s keen on moving to Bayern Munich. Three days later, the same outlet reported the defender’s name is being discussed ‘again and again’ at the Bavarian club.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are not alone as Borussia Dortmund have also identified the 24-year-old as a target for the winter market.

That’s according to Bild, who say BVB coach Edin Terzić and sporting director Sebastian Kehl have both set their sights on the Chelsea player.

BVB took a risk by not signing a centre-back in the last window, leaving them currently without any alternatives if one of Mats Hummels, Nico Schlotterbeck or Niklas Süle were to suffer a serious injury.

Therefore, the Bundesliga side are ‘intensively looking’ for a player in the same position in the next window and are now keen to sign Chalobah.

It’s claimed the Chelsea man is a ‘real all-purpose weapon’ as he can be used as a centre-back, right-back and also as a defensive midfielder. His versatility will be a ‘big plus’, if BVB were to sign him.

Chalobah has a deal until 2028, with an option for another year, and Bild state the Blues are ‘said to be dreaming’ of a fee around €30m from the versatile player’s sale in January. Dortmund cannot afford it and are hoping to take him on loan with an option to buy.

Chelsea youngster David Datro Fofana has been labelled a ‘snotty brat’ for his controversial incident with FC Union Berlin manager Urs Fischer this week.

Didi Hamann covers the striker today in his column for Sky Germany and how he will currently be perceived by his teammates at the German club after the incident in the loss to Napoli in the Champions League.

Fofana was a starter in that game but was brought off midway through the second half as the German side looked to turn things around and secure a big win.

He was less than happy with the decision and showed that as he came off, refusing to shake his manager’s hand and demonstrating his displeasure for all to see.

He has been widely criticised for the incident since, with Union also suspending him for the next two games as punishment for his actions.

It’s the latest low point in what has so far been something of a disastrous loan spell for the youngster, who had joined Union on loan in the summer in the hope of getting regular playing time away from Chelsea and establishing himself.

That’s not proven to be the case, though, as he and his team have struggled to perform anywhere near their best.

It now remains to be seen what happens, with Chelsea and Union certainly needing to make a decision over his loan deal moving forwards.

Hamann certainly believes questions will be getting asked, particularly in the Union squad, who will have been less than impressed by what went on.

“The problem for Köpenicker is that the hierarchy in the team has shifted due to the additions in the summer,” he said.

“They have always had an absolute will to be there for each other, but they don’t have that at the moment. Cohesion seems to have been lost without generally blaming the new players.

“But if one of these new players doesn’t shake the coach’s hand when he’s substituted, which can happen in the heat of the moment but shouldn’t happen, that goes down badly with the long-established players.

“Those who have been at the club for years and will go through fire for Urs Fischer say to themselves: “We’re going to reach the Champions League, he comes here and behaves like that, what does that snotty brat think he’s doing?”

“To put it bluntly, Fofana exposed the coach in front of an audience of millions. Even if he has apologized, something like this always sticks with him, and that certainly doesn’t promote cohesion.”

Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana has been suspended by loan club Union Berlin after refusing to shake hands with coach Urs Fischer following a substitution this week.

That’s according to Berlin Kurier, who say the on-loan Chelsea striker has been suspended for a week after the incident.

The newspaper explains that Fofana ‘refused to shake hands’ with his coach after he was substituted in the loss to Napoli in the Champions League this week.

That moment of ‘frustration’ for the striker, who has endured a difficult time since joining the Bundesliga club on loan from Chelsea in the summer, led to plenty of criticism and various comments from Union that it would have to be dealt with.

They’ve now handed their punishment to the forward, with Berlin Kurier reporting that the player has been suspended for a week by the club.

He will only be allowed to train individually until Wednesday and won’t be a part of the squad for the games against Werder Bremen and VfB Stuttgart.

“I hope that the boy learns from situations like this,” Fischer is reported to have said on the matter, with Union clearly hoping the suspension draws a line under the matter.

The incident is the latest in what is proving to be a difficult loan spell for the Chelsea man, who started brightly in pre-season but has since struggled to make an impact as Union continue to struggle.

Indeed, it’s been reported in Germany that personal problems behind the scenes have caused issues on the pitch, where he’s fell into a ‘performance hole’.

Chelsea will surely be looking at the situation closely and if things continue as they are, a decision may need to be made.

David Datro Fofana has made only four appearances for Chelsea since he joined them in January. In need of regular playing time to continue his development, the Blues let the forward join Union Berlin on a loan deal in the last window.

Operating mainly as a striker and at times as a winger, he has made 11 appearances this season, managing one assist in the process.

Earlier this week, the Chelsea owned player refused to shake hands with manager Urs Fischer after he was substituted in the German club’s Champions League defeat to Napoli. The 20-year-old issued a public apology to Fischer, his teammates, the club and their supporters.

Speaking to Sky Deutschland, former Union Berlin star Torsten Mattuschka has slammed the Ivory Coast international for his behaviour towards Fischer and has also urged the Bundesliga side to hand him a punishment.

Union Berlin have endured a difficult season as they are currently 15th in the table and Mattuschka believes the incident involving Fofana doesn’t help the club at this time.

“Give the coach your hand – even if he’s frustrated. We all understand that,” he said.

“That’s simply disrespectful to his coach – also to his teammates and the fans. Nobody needs that, especially not in this situation. He is a young player, [and] has recognised the mistake. There will certainly be a fine, and there should be. Perhaps you shouldn’t take the boy with you for a game or two so that he wakes up.”

Fofana will have to return to Chelsea after this season where he has a contract until 2029.

If you don’t know who Kendy Páez is yet, it’s likely you will before too long. In the extensive list of Chelsea youngsters, the Ecuadorian is the one making the biggest waves.

And that excitement is something which needs to be carefully managed, at least according to journalist Eduardo Jijón, who writes about the Chelsea man for La República today.

For those that don’t know, Páez was signed by Chelsea this summer but has been left at Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle until he turns 18, when he will then head to Stamford Bridge.

The hope is that he will continue to develop his game in his homeland and be ready for life in Europe in two years’ time and, at the moment, that appears to be very likely.

Páez has continued his rapid rise in recent months, shining for his club, where he became the youngster scorer and assister in history of South American qualifiers as well as making his debut for his country and bagging a goal in the clash with Bolivia.

He is very much the shining jewel for his country and the hype is already building, with Jijón admitting he personally doesn’t want to get his hopes up but can’t resist given what Páez is achieving.

He admits that ‘comparisons in football are inevitable’ and that is the case with Páez, who already appears to be better than what Ecuador have served up in recent years, and that includes Chelsea star Moisés Caicedo.

Jijón likens the youngster to Toni Kroos in that if he scores a normal goal, he considers it uninteresting or as not counting, but also with a touch of Lionel Messi, his recent strike against Guayaquil City one the Argentine ‘would sign for you’.

He’s also adept at set pieces and has demonstrated that too, with another striker likened to something James Rodríguez would produce but dispatched as if ‘he were in the park near his house’.

That’s big praise but it’s all justified according to the journalist, who believes the Chelsea youngster is the real deal and will be a star of the future.

He, though, urges fans to ‘have patience’ and remember Páez is only 16 years old and there will be games where he isn’t the shining star.

He wants his country and their fans to ‘let Kendry be Kendry’ and develop normally, without comparing him to Jude Bellingham or Erling Haaland. He cites the case of Vinicius Junior, who he says ‘went from meme to Ballon d’Or nominee in a couple of years.’

He believes with time, and patience, it won’t be long be Páez is in Chelsea’s first team and shining but expectations need to be held back for now, although it’s ‘probably too late for that’.

In case Chelsea are really interested in signing Gavi from Barcelona in the upcoming transfer windows, the Catalan media shares some interesting news on that situation.

Newspaper Sport has a story claiming that as the Camp Nou side need a big sale to revive their economic situation, they’re deciding who should go.

Gavi and Pedri are said to be in the front row, since they’re the two with the ‘most offers’.

Chelsea are one of the clubs said to be interested in Gavi, who’s expected to be worth over €100m in case of a sale.

Barcelona are obviously reluctant about losing their young stars, as they have huge importance in the team. So the whole situation is described as a big ‘taboo’ as the club’s board decides what to do.

Back in August, the very same Sport had already claimed that Chelsea, as well as Paris Saint Germain, were interested in Gavi’s signing.

It seems the talks didn’t go forward in the summer window, but the possibility may become real, depending on Barcelona’s decision.

As Chelsea and Liverpool continue to be named as two potential destinations for Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez, the player has now spoken to his home country’s media about his future.

The winger was interviewed by ESPN Argentina, and ended up revealing some long-term plans he has for his career.

Gonzalez said he;s a River Plate fan, and that he’d like to play for the Buenos Aires side one day.

“I really want to play for River. I want my brother to see me in that shirt. It would be very special. But today I’m in Europe. One day I hope it will come true,” Gonzalez told ESPN.

“I wouldn’t go to River for a walk. You have to win everything. I would love to win the Copa Libertadores and the championship. It would be very nice.”

When quoting the player, ESPN makes sure to says that Chelsea and Liverpool both want him.

The latest reports from the Italian media said that Fiorentina will demand something between €55m and €60m for Gonzalez next year.

Those claims also named Chelsea and Liverpool as the main contenders, so we could soon see Blues and Reds competing for the winger.

Despite being a River Plate fan, Gonzalez never had the chance to play for the Millonario because he started his career at Argentinos Juniors’ academy. There he was sold to VfB Stuttgart in a €11.2m deal in 2018, having switched to Fiorentina in a €24.5m transfer in 2021.
